Installation
This covers fitted and commissioned work — kitchens, dressing rooms, libraries, wall units and canopy beds — which is installed rather than delivered. For freestanding furniture see delivery.
Where we install. Installation is arranged individually rather than by a fixed coverage map. Every fitted project begins with a survey, and we confirm in writing that we can install at your address, and at what cost, before you approve anything. We are based in Giza and work throughout Greater Cairo as a matter of course; further afield is a question of access and scheduling rather than a refusal, so ask.
Before we install
We survey and measure the room ourselves, at our cost, before you approve a specification. That survey covers the walls, floor level, services and access.
We will tell you before installation:
- how many days it will take;
- how many people will be in your home;
- what services we need — power, water shut-off, anything similar; and
- what you need to do beforehand.
What you need to do
The room must be ready: empty of furniture and belongings, with flooring, plastering, painting and any tiling complete, and electrical and plumbing first-fix finished in the right positions.
We cannot install into a room that is still a building site. If we arrive and the room is not ready, we will have to re-schedule, and the return visit is chargeable.
Someone aged 18 or over must be present each day, with authority to answer questions about the work.
If anything changes before the visit, call +20 109 307 8445.
What we do
We install the joinery, level and fix it, fit doors, drawers, shelves and hardware, adjust everything to close correctly, and clean the room and remove our packaging and offcuts before leaving.
What we do not do
- Electrical and plumbing connection. We prepare joinery for appliances and services, but final connection must be by a qualified electrician or plumber. If you would like us to coordinate one, ask.
- Building work — moving walls, structural alteration, plastering, tiling, flooring or painting the room.
- Removing or disposing of your existing kitchen or fitted furniture, unless agreed in writing and priced.
Old and existing installations
If we agree to remove an existing installation, it is quoted separately, and we are not responsible for the condition of walls, floors or services revealed underneath. Old installations frequently hide damage.
Buildings are not square
Almost no room is truly square, level or plumb. Scribing, packing and small adjustments are a normal part of fitting joinery well, and are not defects.
Where a room is far enough out of true that the design must change, we will stop, show you, and agree the change with you before continuing.
Snagging
At the end we walk the installation with you and note anything outstanding. We aim to resolve snags within 10 working days.
The warranty covers the joinery for two years and the installation itself for one year from completion.
Damage
If we damage your property during installation, tell us at the time and we will put it right or pay for it to be put right.
Existing damage — cracked tiles, uneven floors, poor plaster — should be pointed out at the survey. We photograph the room at the survey to protect both of us.
